This cache is placed on the Nancy B. Diggs Nature Trail. While choosing a spot for the cache, we came upon an interesting fact we were unaware of. According to a sign along the trail, the last public hanging in New York State took place on the west side of school hill - in Mayville, NY. Joseph Damon was hung on May 15, 1835 with over 8,000 people witnessing it. The cache is an ammo can within about 100' of the sign.
