The quest for knowledge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: With the cache owner apparently MIA, adoption is not a possibility. The next best suggestion would be for someone to create a new version of the cache and submit it for publication...

Based on recent logs, it appears that this cache and/or the cache owner are MIA. Accordingly, I am archiving the listing to remove it from search pages and to allow for new caches in this area. If you would like to correct the issues for this cache, you can either create a new cache page or send me an e-mail with the GCxxxx code for this cache listing. I will re-review it and if it meets current guidelines, it can then be un-archived.

Thank you for your understanding and for your contributions to Geocaching.

Geocache Description:

You've found lots of caches outside before, so how about one inside a building? The listed coordinates take you to a parking lot. Park here or closer if you can. Enter the building that the parking lot is for.

The cache is accessible only on the following days and hours: Monday-Thursday from Noon-8:00PM, Friday-INACCESIBLE, Saturday 10:00AM-4:00PM, and Sunday- INACCESIBLE. Please note that the buildings hours are not the same as the hours that the cache is accessible, please be respectful of these hours. Please do not indicate what building you are visiting when posting your logs. It should take 10-15 minutes from when you enter the building, until you are holding the cache.

Print this page and take it with you. To print the page without the logs, click the "Make this page print-fiendly" line above.

Like treasure maps of old, you will have to follow a series of steps to locate the treasure you seek. You will need a 6 number, 3 letter access code to request the cache from someone in the building. The cache was placed here with permission of the head administrator. Some staff know of it and some don't, so please don't stop them to ask for help. Cache is 7" X 1 1/2" X 4" brown box. There is a FTF ribbon for the FTF, plus lots of other items.

Enter the building, turn left after you pass some fish and go to the lowest level. The only public room here has how many panes of glass in the doors and windows combined - that is your first number.

Go up one floor and go to the Redwood Forest. In front of you are 3 bears, walk up to them. Look past these bears until you see another bear, go there. To the right of that bear on the same ridgeline is an animal. If it is a Bigfoot your second number is 3, if it is a Mountain Goat - your second number is a 9.

Leave this room and head toward the fish again, on your right will be a store with a green and white awning; enter this store and go to the back. How many doors are there - that is your third number.

Exit this store and walk across the hall, you will see 3 tall display cases. Inside each are vertical black supports that the shelf brackets fit into. How many of those supports are in all three cases combined? That is your 4th number.

Find and enter the coffee shop, on the ceiling there are fire sprinklers. Count how many there are, that is your 5th number.

For your final number, hike back to the Redwood Forest and search for Banana Slugs on the walls and trees. How many did you find? That is your last number.

Go to the highest floor in the building by the closest possible route and go to the two tallest display cases. In one of the cases is a small white label, affixed to something metal, with three letters followed by the letters GC, ignore the GC and write down the three letters that follow-those are the three letters you need.

Go down one floor and determine where the work titled "ENIAC" is kept. To figure out its location you will have to search for it on one of the computers the building provides. Go to where it is, or should be. Turn around and look up slightly. You will see a square white sign with green letters, go where it tells you to go. When you arrive, walk to the desks on the right and give your paper with the access code written on it to the staff at the counter and ask if you can look at this "book" for a few minutes. They will get the cache for you. Move it quietly as contents will shift while you are walking. Take the cache and make your exchange discreetly in the same room-watch for muggles. Give the cache back to the same person and explore the building further or go on with your day.
