A Famous Old Watering Place
Do not go to the coordinates. They are in the middle of Footes Pond which is close, but not the location of this cache!
Micro's location: N43° 00.2AB W073°51.CDE
The cache you are looking for is a micro, followed by an ammo can
The two parking coordinates will get you close to this micro. As we all know, close doesn’t count unless it is horseshoes, hand grenades, or nuclear (ok, ok, so I added the last one!) war. To find this cache, you will have to do some research before heading out.
Ballston Spa has a lot of history, just like many other villages. My memories come from visiting our dentist there even though we lived in Clifton Park. 30-odd years later and a move to Schenectady County; the memories, and the visit to the dentist, are still there.
Near the parking spot labeled as the “Front Street Parking” there is a 647 feet deep artesian spring well said to have tapped the same mineral water that fed an earlier spring. The eight sided pavilion is regarded as the oldest existing in the area. (Water may be sampled free of charge.) For part of the coordinates for the micro, you will need the year that the spring was drilled.
The last digit of the year it was drilled equals E
Near the parking spot labeled as “Prospect Street Parking” there is an historic building that we need some information about. This remarkable example of late nineteenth century architecture on a four-acre site along the Kayaderosseras Creek became the largest manufacturing enterprise in nineteenth century Saratoga County. Back “in the day” it was used for a couple of purposes, one of which is more easily remembered. What you will need are the three date-ranges (use only the first three tenants' ranges) of these businesses. Using these ranges, fill in the ABC’s to find the micro.
(The below ranges equal year ranges)
- Range 1= xxxx-xxxA (First Tenant)
- Range 2= xxxA-xxCD (Second tenant)
- Range 3= xxCD-xxxB (Third/Final tenant)
