Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are for parking only. Once you have parked your cachemobile, you will begin your historic journey back through The Battle of Parkers Crossroads.

To complete this adventure, you must visit 11 different historical markers which describe the events that took place on this very spot during the Civil War battle of Parkers Crossroads. Please take your time, don't rush, and read the information provided. It is really interesting to learn about the many events that took place here during this Civil War battle.

Your objective will be to obtain information from each historical marker which will help you to complete the following coordinates that lead to the final cache location.

Begin your adventure at the following coordinates: N 35 47.780 W 088 23.403 At this first stop you will see a three sided historical marker. On the side titled "Forrest's West Tennessee Raid" there was an Alabama cavalry unit which served under Forrest. The number of this unit equals "B"

Stop number two will be at the historical marker titled "Forrest's Tactics" The marker tells the date when the attack at Lexington occurred. The second digit in the day of this date equals "D"

Stop number three will be at the historical marker titled "Parkers Crossroads" This marker talks about John Parker. He owned several slaves at the time of the battle. The first digit in the number of slaves he owned equals "G"

Stop number four will be at historical marker "Give 'Em Hell" This marker talks about Morton's battery and gives Morton's' age at the time of the battle. The first digit of his age equals "F"

Stop number five will be at historical marker "The Battle Begins" This marker talks about the day the two opposing forces met. The first digit of the day equals "H"

Stop number six will be at historical marker "Manning the Guns" This marker talks about manning an artillery battery. On the marker is a picture of a group of mules. The number of mules in the picture equals "K"

Stop number seven will be at historical marker "A Fire Terrible in It's Intensity" This marker talks about the intensity of the battle and has a picture of men around a cannon. The number of men around the cannon in the picture equals "A"

Stop number eight will be at historical marker "Confederate Horse Holders" This marker talks about the job of the horse holder during battle. The number of Ohio regiments that swept down on the horse holders equals "J"

Stop number nine will be at historical marker "Fullers Assault" This marker talks about a particular Wisconsin Battery. It's number equals "C"

Stop number ten will be at historical marker "Charge Them Both Ways" There is a picture on this marker. At the bottom of the picture it has the title of the picture. The number of words in the title of the picture on the marker equals "I"

Stop number eleven will be at historical marker "Flight To Safety" This marker talks about Forrest's retreat from Parkers Crossroads and tells how many men and horses he crossed the Tennessee river with after the battle. The first digit in this number equals "E"
