Geocache Description:

This Cache is off of a plant trail. Free parking is available. The park is open daily during daylight hours only. A quarter mile walk is required to reach the cache. In warmer months please take precautions for snakes, ticks and insects.

To reach the cache you have to walk through a plant trail. There are many carnivorous plants on this trail, including Venus flytraps. Best time to view the plants are between April to October. Between April through July come to see the very unusual flowers of the North American pitcher plants.

I named this cache Canivorous Plant Surprise because the first time I found this place I saw a plant growing here that does not grow in NC, it only grows along the gulf coast. (visit link)
It's Sarracenia leucophylla.
(visit link)

As far as I know this is the only place in NC where you can see this plant growing.

There are at least 12 carnivorous plant species growing here.
They are :
Venus Flytraps (Dionaea Muscipula) (visit link)

Dwarf Sundew (Drosera Brevifolia) (visit link)

Pink Sundew (Drosera capilaris) (visit link)

Spatula-leaf Sundew (Drosera intermedia) (visit link)

Thread-leaf Sundew (Drosera filiformis) (visit link)

Butterworts (Pinguicula) (visit link)

Yellow pitcher plant (Sarracenia flava) (visit link)

Sweet pitcher plant (Sarracenia rubra) (visit link)

Purple pitcher plant (Sarracenia purpurea) (visit link)

Hooded pitcher plant (Sarracenia minor) (visit link)

White top pitcher plant (Sarracenia leucophylla) Non-native. (visit link)

Bladderwort (utricularia) (visit link)

Please don't take any plants, seeds or even any part of the plants. It is illegal and the penalty is $2000 fine and six months in jail for EACH PLANT OR EACH SEED. So it's not worth it. You can buy them for less than $5. If anybody wants one that bad email me and I'll show you where you can get Venus Flytraps or any other carnivorous plant.
