Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES.
To find the true coordinates to the cache, you must answer the questions to determine the coordinates. The cache is a small camouflaged gladlock container with a twist off end containing a log book and pencils. Access to the cache can be found on paved paths located throughout the neighborhood. Once off the path, your route will require some wading.

It’s a bright sunny day, water temperature is 80º, 100+ feet of visibility, and a full tank of air. Life doesn’t get any better than this. Ever since I was a small child I have had a great love of the oceans and their inhabitants. I’ve traveled many places on different continents in my life but the allure of the sea has always brought me back to it. I’m truly at peace when I am in its watery embrace. To that end this cache is dedicated to several of the islands in the Caribbean that I have had the luxury of visiting above and below the water. Answering the questions below on each of the islands will solve the coordinates for the cache.

1. This sickle-shaped island derives its name from the Greek word for “Freedom”. Valentine’s Day lovers will enjoy the color of its beaches, and the location of the first U.S. Consulate. What is the name of this island and the location of the first U.S. Consulate?

2. This series of islands has the third largest coral reef system in the world. I have had the honor of personally meeting the highly social mammal that heads up his own namesake project to help other stranded, injured or entangled mammals. His project works internationally also to protect rare, lone sea mammals. What is the name of this series of islands and the name of this marine mammal?

3. This island is unique with it lush vegetation, rain forests, and still active volcano. Its natural beauty has been use in several films, Superman, Dr. Doolittle, and Pirates of the Caribbean. In the 1990s, this island along with others nations became embroiled in a “War” which is named after its then primary export. What is the name of this island’s then primary export?

4. The earliest settlements date back to about 1500 BC, though there's evidence of human habitation going back another thousand years. Three known groups of Indians predated European arrival: the Ciboneys, the Arawaks and the Caribs. In 1493, when Columbus arrived, perhaps feeling the lack of female companionship on board his vessel, called the islands Las Vírgenes. What is the name of this group of islands capital city?

5. The early inhabitants of this island, The Carib Indians, called the island Madinina, 'Island of Flowers'. This island continues to use French currency and stamps and fly the French flag. However, in recent years there have been increased rumblings for greater internal autonomy and separatist groups continue to organize. In 2001, the 87-year-old poet, who had been a mayor on the island for 47 years, stepped down, though not from his position in the highest ranks of postcolonial literature. What is the name of this island and who is the poet, author, and playwright described in the text?

Always remember, take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but bubbles. Kill nothing but time.
