The Forbes Wetland is a part of Woodlands Park in Kirkland. An
area of the park was cleared in 2005 to allow for the construction
of a new, larger playground structure, as well as some picnic
tables and pathways. As part of this project boardwalks were also
put in place to allow easier access between the previously
developed areas of the park and the newly developed section.
The wetlands drain into Forbes Lake and Forbes Creek, and they
provide a home for many plants and animals. In addition they
provide a cleansing process for the water as it passes through the
various parts of the wetland.
This cache is placed in the wetlands but you don’t need to get
wet to find it. Please obey all park rules and stay on the
developed trails. This means that there is no reason to leave the
boardwalk because it isn't down there.
