Once upon a time, not too long ago, a kitten was born in the Kingdom of Cache. She was a regal Birman kitten who was a glorious example of all the breed had to offer. Not only was she one of the smartest kittens in the land, but she matched the Birman profile. She had a graceful, but long stocky body and an elegant silky coat that had a golden cast to it. Her piercing blue eyes were nicely rounded and the gloves on her front feet were pure white and perfectly symmetrical. Even the white laces on her back feet extended up to her hocks and ended in a point. She was a sight to behold and all the people in the Kingdom considered her to be their Princess.

Princess was a rare feline indeed, for she could converse with the inhabitants of the Kingdom. Since she was also a cat genius, they consulted her when problems arose. One of their major concerns, however, was how to keep Princess safe. It seems that she was a gregarious sort who routinely cavorted with all of the studs in the Kingdom of Cache. When she should have been too young to reproduce, she had her first litter. Luckily, there were only two kittens. Purr LaGuerre ( GCR2F3), an offspring, was named when someone observed that he had more stripes than a master sergeant. Princess liked the sound of his name so she decided to use the surname with all of her brood. Consequently, she called her female kitten, Chelsea LaGuerre ( GCR9RR).

Although the inhabitants of Cache worshipped Purr and Chelsea, they were allowed to move near the Oak Hill Trail to live with detectives, Sean and Amanda. The people of Cache watched Princess more closely and when she matured, decided that she should be allowed to breed with a male that was as wise and elegant as she was. They searched the land far and wide for a match and found a gallant young stud named, Vunderbar. There was a joyous celebration when he entered the Kingdom. Every Cache container opened so he could have his choice of toys with which to amuse himself. He didn't appreciate the offerings, however, because he longed for the fair Princess! Within a year Princess and Vunderbar had produced two matched kittens who were just as gorgeous and smart as they were. They called one twin, Charlotte, a French/Saxon name meaning, "noble woman," for she was destined to be noble. Her twin sister was named, Emily, a word of Latin origin for, "flatterer" and "ambitious."

Emily was ambitious indeed. She attempted to take control of the Kingdom as she paraded around uttering false praise to the inhabitants. She was clever and she was devious, a bad match for those around her. Soon the Kingdom of Cache began referring to her as, "The Evil Twin." Emily was never straightforward and she could not be trusted. Thus it was no surprise to anyone when Charlotte, not Emily, was called upon to help Sean and Amanda solve a mystery. Emily was enraged! She, too, could communicate with people and she knew she was the cleverest cat in the land. Purr had been called into action before and now it was Charlotte who was being summoned. Emily wondered when her turn would come. To amuse herself in her twin's absence, she decided to create a code of her own that would test the ingenuity of the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Cache. She thought it might challenge them even though it was really as "easy as pie!"

Note: If you would like to check your answer with Emily before setting out, she would be flattered to give assistance. When she is being consulted for help, she always gives an accurate answer. Emily would be upset if she found any of her secrets revealed in the log entries so please try to keep her happy.

Another Note: We have spoken to the neighbors and they are now comfortable with people being so close to their house. No matter what the GPS says, please stay on public property at all stages. If you have decrypted Emily's code you already know what kind of location you are seeking at stage #1 and you really don't even need a GPS.
