Kayaking east from Roseville Bridge is the wet way. For those Hikers look for Bungaroo Trail.
In April 1788, within three months of the first settlement at Sydney Cove, Governor Phillip accompanied by John White, Surgeon General to the settlement, camped two nights in this park while exploring the land west of Manly. His campsite at Bungaroo was at the tidal limit of Middle Harbour Creek. In 1988 the Bungaroo Track was established. It attempts to follow a westward course up from the tidal limit of Middle Harbour Creek into the Ku-ring-gai Hills, in accordance with the description in Surgeon White's Journal.
I took a leisurely paddle one afternoon to extend the Geocaching Kayaking trail from Spit Bridge, further west. I went as far as the saltwater went and when rocks barred my way I got out and had a little explore. I stumbled upon Bungaroo Trail and walked along the track a short distance to the top of the hill. On the way up I hid the cache under a rock. I walked on and near the top I found a sign (coords approx s33 44.655, e151 11.287).
For those that choose to walk in, I cannot speak for the trail itself, but if you Kayak in like I did, a) Roseville Bridge is a good start, b) dont forget to take water, c) go beyond the pipeline and d) don't let a little sandbar hold you back.
