Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the Alton Water reservoir circuit in Stutton on the Shotley Peninsula.

The Reservoir Ramble is a cache located in the circuit of the Alton water reservoir, the circuit itself is an approx 8.5 mile walk on fairly easy terrain with just a couple of steep bits, We have done the circuit in 2 hours 20 minutes. There are numerous parking sites around Alton water and we parked at the visitor centre (follow signs) costing £2 on a Sunday and £1 at other times, the reservoir is absolutely beautiful with an abundance of wildlife and well worth a visit. The geocache itself could be done on cycles as the whole circuit is for walkers and cyclists and bicycles can be hired at the visitor centre if needed but I have no idea on the charges. It is also a great place to walk your dogs (on a lead). There is a cafe and toilets at the visitor centre. This is a cache that can include the whole circuit or you can park near and just log the cache, the choice is yours. May I suggest looking on the other side of where your GPS points to as many cachers have stated, we have altered the co-ordinates twice now so it must be the trees.

The cache is in a screw top plastic cup and contains a log book, pen, keyring, necklace and other "bits". G:UK cache rating
