Geocache Description:

A little 3-part micro-cache to enjoy while seeking Where the Green Fern Grows

When Paddler Found and I set out to tackle Bubba Hide’s cache Where The Green Fern Grows (GCD459) little did we know how badly we were about to get hooked on the geocaching scene. After a lot of effort spent WTGFG was completed and on the final trek we discovered something during the walk I just couldn’t resist bringing along. So to thank Bubba Hide for getting the geocaching hook set deeply in place we decided to place a cache back including this in it.

This little 3-part cache is made up of camo’d micros that fit the theme of the cache and hopefully a good little challenge. The final part that was originally from the area was just laying around just so no one thinks we had any hand in doing anything other then lifting it and carrying it along (and also returning it back home). The first part of this cache is accessible from several of the pathways and fairly deep into the area. This can be a little icing on the cake if you’re making a run around here or a little challenge in itself. Parking for the local caches is found at N27 52.273 W82 08.150 and we’ve heard it rumored there may be other ways in but unless your hitchhiking on a train, we’ve yet to find them.

There is no equestrian or biking allowed here so it’s all on foot. This cache alone will rack up about 4.5 miles of hiking but there is so much to see (and find) out here your best bet is to plan on spending the whole day here. Bring along a pen as all parts of this cache are micro’s that only contain log books. Each part of this are within a few feet of the clear hiking trails so no bushwhacking should be necessary.

The day after this cache was placed we headed out by kayak into some secluded areas and little did we know, we ended up padding under the walkway bridge that you’ll pass across for most all of the caches out here. Was a neat moment for us seeing that we could of headed here by paddle to cache if we desired (don’t get the idea that there is a good secure place to dock a boat anywhere close by).

So when you’re out and about, throw a little Animal, Mineral and Vegetable in the mix, enjoy the camo and have a great day of caching out here. Always practice CITO and be careful when caching (especially in the wilderness), avoiding animals and vegetation protecting their homes (thorns are defensive, not offensive) and remember that we're the ones who are visiting their home. The minerals probably don't care too much what you do. And keep in mind that we view all types vegetation as part of the "vegetable" kingdom so don't expect to be looking for a carrot or tomato when seeking the final. And please re-hide as well as you found them to keep them safe from muggles and fun for the next adventurers.

A hint to help in the Corridor. I’ll try not to give anything away but want to help with when to do a few of our caches out there. If you’re like most people, the main draw to the Corridor is WTGFG (Where The Green Fern Grows). If you’re targeting that series then good luck, but don’t worry about nailing Stage 1 of AMV (Animal, Mineral, Vegetable) until you get towards the end of your journey, it should be along your way.

After you do Stage 1 of AMV you can grab Peek-A-Boo GCZW81 along your journey as Stage 2 of AMV is between it and Forecheck GCZW7V. The final of AMV is on the way back to the entrance. So AMV is really an end of the day multi.

Now if you wish to do Zero MPG (one of our favorites) that is another story as it’s not really on the way to or from anything. But keep in mind, you don’t have to bushwhack at all to reach Zero MPG so before you start crossing rough terrain, check the trail map :O)
