South Mountain Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LifeOnEdge!: We came out here today to check on this one. The two trees either side of this cache were missing.

I originally intended this to be an 11 day cache, but geocaching.com expects a cache to be available for at least 90 days. That is probably all it was available for, so I consider it has run its course.

There are no remains from the cache now. All trash was picked up looking for signs of the container.

Thanks to all who either tried or found this cache.

I am going to drop several geocoins in this cache. This is for my own recordkeeping. There is no cache and no coins are at this location. This is simply a virtual exercise.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a micro container hidden in or near a cedar tree.

This is a new container that I think will be perfect for a more challenging micro hide.

First to Find will earn two bonus Smileys for their effort, or three Smileys total. Second to Find will earn one bonus Smiley for their effort, or two Smileys total.

So, what do you do if you and a buddy come out to look for this cache? Who logs the find? Hey, if you’re not first or second to find, do as you wish. But if you are one of the first two “teams” to find the cache, either log as a team OR whoever finds the cache logs the find. What, you’re a nice guy, find the cache before your buddy, and you feel bad? Okay. Give your buddy one Smiley and you take the other two(one). Awwwww, that’s not fair! “I sorry!” Read rule #6 below.

Team cachers (families who use one name or buddies who log together) can log as a team. Drivers, co-pilots, and those supplying moral support (or a working pen) will not qualify for the FTF and STF bonuses. Whoever finds the cache gets the credit. I’m not trying to be ugly or make some political stand. I am just simplifying this and (hopefully) eliminating arguments about who gets what. If you found the cache, you get the credit.

To qualify for the find you must do the following:

1) Date and sign the field log
2) First finder must wait to post the find on the cache page until AFTER 9:00 pm CST Sunday, March 19, 2006.
3) Second finder must wait to post their find on the cache page until after the First finder posts their find.
4) Third finder must wait to post their find Online until after the Second finder posts their find online
5) Subsequent finders please note who logs a find in the field log before you , then wait for that person to post a find on the cache page before you post your find.
6) Any deviations from the above will result in find log deletions.

Hopefully, this will promote several fast finds.

While in the area, take advantage of the three caches along Highway 84 as well as caches in and around Gatesville. Just to the west is a highway that Dr. Hogg left alone. Its a nice road and should have great places to hide additional caches. Bring your unhidden kits and find a good place before I do!
