Geocache Description:

Hi and welcome to the JigJam Clan’s first cache in the Broome area. This cache was set up for Oracle Jam’s birthday as well as provide a bit of a tour around some of Broome’s more historic landmarks. Please take your time to have a look around at each of the spots that you go to, as there is quite a bit of history and scenery throughout Broome and surrounds.

This cache will take you quite some distance so a car is recommended, particularly in the warmer months of the wet season. The listed co-ordinates will take you to a spot where someone will be pointing at you when you stand in front of a commemorative plaque, from which you can get the following information.

How many ton was the vessel = AB In what year was the plaque placed= CDEF Use these clues to take you to the next point of interest which can be found at; S 17 B8.199 E122 14.CD4

In this area you will find a very picturesque place of rest where many of the local residents have decided to stay for a while. Find the person who has been here the longest; who was the seventh son of the family. The date in which he laid down here= GHIJ Use this to obtain the co-ordinates for your next point, which can be found at; S 17 57.J50 E 122 G3.35H

Here you will also find a number of original Broome inhabitants that are all having a bit of a lie down. The sheer numbers of people here display just how busy and extreme Broome was in the early days of the Pearling Industry. At this waypoint you will find another plaque that will provide you the following information. In what year was the first recorded stone placed= KLMN How many graves are here= PQR Using these clues obtain the co-ordinates for your next point of interest, which is at; S 1P 55.R42 E 122 K2.NQL

Here you will find a light-pole, which is not significant at al, but cast your eyes around and you will notice that you are at one of the most magnificent places in the world. Use the number at the base of this pole to get your next set of co-ordinates. Number at the base of the pole= Z Substitute this into the following set of co-ordinates; S17 58.4Z7 E 122 10.601

Here you will find copies of some very old markings that can be found nearby, and again some very fine scenery. Now that you have an idea what the markings are, return to the information booth and find just how old these are. How many million years ago were these markings made= TUV

The final resting spot of this cache is at; S 18 00.U92 E 122 T2.627

Cheers and hope that you enjoy your trip around Broome,

JigJam Clan.
