Geocache Description:

This easy night cache provides practice to the hunter in preparation for the challenge of the upcoming ‘Law of the Jungle’. Cache is available to all as of March 26, 2006! A read of Kipling’s 1894 classic from the Jungle Book provided the inspiration for these two night caches.

All reflectors feature 4 square inches of visible surface… a generously large area to reflect back your light source. The terrain at Lone Post is relatively hazard-free… until the thaw. Animals encountered here range from Man with his/her domestic dogs, moose (often encountered while they’re at rest lying down…), wild geese, fox, coyotes, and of course the mosquito. Children not recommended (in seasons other than winter) unless closely supervised! The sound of Man and his machines are never far off, even late at night. This hunt becomes a real challenge when the ground has thawed…

Park at N61 09.096 W149 55.026 only! Proceed 80 paces NNE to N61 09.121 W149 54.987 and turn to face east. 200 paces away at N61 09.124 W149 54.823 the first marker is mounted above eye level. Study this marker well, as it is typical of what you’ll encounter in the rest of the hunt. The next marker is barely visible from this point, about another 200 paces eastward. From the second marker you’re on your own… until you encounter two markers on the same tree.

Good hunting, packmate. Know there are perhaps a dozen markers in all… and the Law of the Jungle says the hunt is to happen after midnight!

Congratulations to the duo of Tundra Tim and mtboy, who garnered an unregistered Seven Summits Mount McKinley geocoin as reward for being FTF.
