Located in the heart of the jungle, this cache is less then 1 mile from the Puarta Maya Cruise ship pier…… as the crow flies. If you’re not a crow then you will need to trek through the jungle by jeep, motorcycle, foot, or horse. From the cruise ship pier, head south. Only 1 km (.6 mile) past Puarta Maya pier is the first turn. FYI, Purata Maya is southern most pier of the 3 piers. These are the coordinates for that first turn. N 20 27.901 W086 58.643
Stay on this road/trail for another 1.6km (1 mile) and make another turn. Then you are on your own.
Total distance from P. Maya to the cache is 3.6 km (2 ¼ miles).
Wear tennis shoes or boots. I don't recommend sandals. During rainy season bring a poncho or raincoat. Mosquito repellent is in the cache as the season for the little pests is arriving.
When you get close to the cache you will discover a Temascal Sweat Lodge. This is the only operating spiritual & cleansing spa on the island. If you arrive early enough ( before noon) you may want to partake in this ancient ritual followed by a dip in a fresh water cenote. So be sure and bring you swim suit and towel.
