Geocache Description:

This is a short hike-to cache. One way to the cache is about a half a mile. Round trip around the pond is about 1.4 miles. There may be ducks and geese on the pond. Not sure about the fishing in the cedar water.

This cache is located near a pond along Deep Run, south of Hampton Furnace Rd in the Wharton State Forest. It can best be appreciated by starting at the suggested trail head and hiking down the west shore of the pond. Try to imagine this place in a bygone era when it was a bog planted with cranberries ripe for the harvest. Or perhaps even further back in time when they were taking the bog iron out for the nearby furnace. Now it has gone back to nature, a shelter for waterfowl.

It is recommended that you walk to this cache as there are some holes in the roads. You be the judge of your cache mobile's abilities but by driving you may miss some of the scenery which is best appreciated by walking down the trail. Its about half a mile from the trail head to the cache site. Enjoy the hike.
