Geocache Description:

This cache is a magnetic key holder located in the hamlet of Adirondack, on the east shore of Schroon Lake. If you drive to the cache location from the south along East Shore Drive, you'll be treated to some of the best views of Schroon Lake, with Hoffman Mountain, Mt. Severance, and the High Peaks in the background (weather/season permitting).

For my first cache hidden, I could not think of a more important place (at least to me). At the cache location, there used to be stairs leading down to a beach on Schroon Lake. This beach belonged to the Roaring Brook Cottages, which were located across the street from the beach. Growing up, my family came up here during the summer to escape from "the Island." Sadly, this place was sold a few years ago to Adirondack Lodges (to the south, on the other side of Mill Brook), and the ten quaint log cabins built from local cedar were replaced with modern condominiums. Still, the cache location does have a great view of the lake, especially at sunset. Two of the images below were taken from within 5 feet of the current cache location, but were taken many years ago. The scenery has changed, but you should be able to find the location.
