Sometimes when an animal gets hit while it is on a roadway, it doesn't die immediately. They can move off the road and find a place to hide and either heal or die.
We think that is what happened with this little critter. We think he may have been run over while crossing the trail. His poor little body still has the tire tracks on it! His demise will NOT be in vain. We decided to take advantage of his last resting place and his remains to honor him with this cache!
He wasn't very big, so we could not use him for a full-size cache. I did happen to have a tupperware container with me when I was walking down this path, so I slid his body in it, and then...well...hid it!! I hope that it will keep his body fresh enough so that all of you nice Colorado geocachers can stop by to say your last respects. Oh, and also leave a trinket beside him in the "casket".
Due to the fragile nature of this critter(It hasn't been hot enough here for his body to desicate, yet!), PLEASE be gentle when handling him!
