This is a two stage multi cache, the first stage is at a Pioneer Cemetery where you will gather information to lead you to a traditional final stage.
N43 and W79 are assumed for coordinates to be calculated.
This cache is the first in a series and there is a three digit code to collect from under the lid for later use.
Stage One – The Deforrest Pioneer Cemetery – At the posted coordinates there is a Memorial to the Campbell family, it sadly reflects how early the children of some pioneers died. Take note of the following:
How many months Joseph lived = A
How many months Margaret Jane lived = B
How many months Walter lived = C
How many months Francis lived = D
To calculate coordinates for the trailhead:
Divide A by 1000 and subtract from 26.277 to get North minute value, and divide B by 1000 and add to 57.769 to get West minute value.
There is room to park one vehicle at the trailhead, there is additional parking at the side of the road about 250m north.
To calculate coordinates for the final stage:
Divide C by 1000 and subtract from 26.544 to get North minute value, and divide D by 1000 and add to 57.398 to get West minute value.
Final Stage – The main cache is a 1.75 litre plastic container containing the usual cache goodies. On the hike to the final you will come to an open area, please keep to the edge of this area as there are small evergreens planted here. Do not forget to collect the three digit code from under the lid.
