Geocache Description:

Located at the eastern end of Petit Jean Mountain, this cache is at a rocky point that offers spectacular views of the Arkansas River and surrounding areas to the north and east. And, unlike most other caches in Petit Jean State Park, this one is wheelchair friendly! However, this view also makes it a muggle-rich area, so extreme stealth and caution must be used when searching for this cache.

The area is most commonly known for the nearby gravesite of Petit Jean, the young French woman for whom the mountain is named. Stout’s Point gets its name from William Cummings Stout, who owned several thousand acres on both sides of the Arkansas River at the foot of the mountain in the late 1800’s. Stout's home, Hawkstone, was located in the valley below the point where Petit Jean’s Gravesite is located. Mr. Stout was the first Arkansan ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church. The role the Stout family played in the settlement of Petit Jean Mountain led to the area in and around the gravesite being known as "Stout’s Point”.

The cache is a log-only micro-container and should be easy to locate. When you find this cache please take note how it is hidden and replace it back as you found it so those following you may experience the same challenge. And PLEASE be discrete when retrieving and replacing the cache!
