This cache is 25 feet off the Batona Trail. I had to replace the cache on 10-6-2012, since it was missing. It is about 10 ft. from its original location, but my GPS never got a good read today. There are lots of trees overhead. My GPS said I was 7 Ft. away when I was on top of it - and also when I was 7 ft. away from it.
Batona Trial #3 is the third cache in a series (of eight as of 2012) that I have placed along the Batona Trail to celebrate my own “Batona Trial” of walking the entire Batona Trail in many (many, many) short hikes, which I have now completed. There is nothing particularly special about this location over any other place on the Batona Trail. I just think it would be nice to have a few caches available for people like me to find while walking the trail.
Your GPS might have problems due to heavy growth overhead. The two pictures I have included are spoilers - giving you an idea of exactly where to look. The cache is under the hankerchief in the pictures. (Of course, I took the handkerchief with me!) Update: These pictures were taken long ago. There have been two fires through here since the cache was originally placed, and so the terrain and the underbrush are very different than they were then.
The cache itself is a Tupperware-like container - about double sandwich-size.
