Geocache Description:

If you go after this cache you will have to get your feet, tyres or hull wet. There are two water crossings that need to be tackled. Both are quite short but the first is a bit tricky. It's definitely a 4wd only crossing with experience highly recommended! MAKE SURE YOU WALK THIS CROSSING BEFORE DRIVING.... There are many holes - some quite deep - and it's not a case of just driving straight across. If you are unsure at all, leave the vehicle behind and walk instead!

There are a few ways to attack this cache. You can just go with the end waypoint and follow your nose if you don't mind doubling back a little when you find a creek between you and the cache or you can use the following waypoints to head for the best places to cross: Crossing 1: 34° 07.411S , 142° 01.592E Crossing 2: 34° 07.067S , 142° 01.658E Once you are over the first crossing you will be on Cowanna Island. And the second crossing is at Stoney Creek, a name derived from the crossing point as you will see. If you wander quietly along the banks of Stoney Creek in the evening you most likely see lots of water birds, kangaroos and maybe the odd emu. It a tranquil little creek running off the Murray River. This geocache can also be tackled via boat. A houseboat could get to the entrance to Stoney Creek. A tinny or kayak can get right up to crossing point 2. I recommend doing this geocache on foot or kayak in the late afternoon. This way you will be sure to encounter some wild life up close. And Meocache #2 isn't far away... a great one for bird lovers! Be sure to visit the Meocache website ( http://www.meocache.com ) to keep track of a moving geocache adventure starting mid April 06! Enjoy!
