Geocache Description:

This cache is located near a tiny overgrown spot in a residential neighborhood and is often used by the local youth as a covert drinking spot and beer stash. Consequently, the area tends to collect its share of empties and could use a bit of CITO. The tavern is quite small. Only enough room for one or two barflies and fear not, you are in no danger of being accosted by any of the tavern’s patrons. I walk my cache mutts by here at least twice a day and I have never actually encountered anyone, day or night. The only evidence of the activity that takes place here is purely archaeological.

You can collect this cache without venturing into the hideaway or trespassing on private property. The cache is accessible from the roadside town easement, just a couple of steps off of the pavement. Please bring your own CITO bag. If each searcher removes one empty we can keep this area pristine. Who knows, you may even find a full one. I’ve been keeping my garden slug traps supplied this way for years.

This cache is an easy walk (1/3 mile) from the parking area for GCH1FT.

January 28, 2007. Once again, I've had to re-set this cache. It was muggled before it could even be found last November so I've shifted it about 62 feet northish so that it's not in the high traffic area of the tavern. It's also a wee bit larger this time. Somewhere between a small cache and a micro. Large enough for VERY small items. Please be careful when opening the container so that the contents don't spill out. The container is not waterproof but the logbook can be written in even if it’s wet so long as you use a PENCIL.

ALAS, THE TAVERN IS NO MORE BUT THE CACHE ENDURES. A short stroll south from the coordinates will take you to the corner of the road where the tavern used to be. Recent renovations to the landscape have destroyed the tavern and now there are no places to hide.

UPDATE: The nearby property owner has cleaned up this corner considerably and all remnants of the original tavern have been obliterated. I leave the cache description as-is to give you an historical perspective on why it's here.
BTW: The adjacent property owners are fully aware of this cache and are cool with it. Again, it's located on town property. Say hi to the chickens while you're here.

WARNING: This is a popular neighborhood dog walk and there are many “land mines” present. Watch your step.
Another WARNING: The neighborhood is well populated with Wampus Kitties (skunks). Not recommended for night caching. Especially just after dusk.
