Geocache Description:


When Anaheim was founded in 1857 the colonists came here to grow wine grapes. The town was bordered by North, South, East, and West streets. Cattle used to come into town to eat the grape vines so they planted a fence of willow trees around the town and had four gates to use to enter or leave the town. This is the location of the North Gate, sometimes called the Los Angeles Gate. This was the most often used gate.The pictures below are of the San Pedro Gate park which recreates what the gates looked like.
