This is a micro cache (magnetic key box) located in a picnic area along U.S. 90 west of San Antonio, TX in Uvalde County.
This cache is a double whammy!. It becomes one of two series of caches, the Chihuahua Trail Series (US 90) and the ‘Picnic’ series I started last year. Other caches in the Chihuahua Trail series are GCV0JX, GCV9TK and GCV9TR.
US 90 was once the main southern transcontinental route before Interstate 10 was completed back in the late 1960s.
US 90 followed an extension of the old Chihuahua Tail which was used to transport supplies from the port of Indianola Texas (visit link) to San Antonio, El Paso and the line of military forts which defended the advancing settlers from the Indians.
The original trail was established by the Indians long before the Spanish created the Chihuahua Trail
This cache is one of several I have planned west of San Antonio.
Even though it is out in the ‘boondocks’ please use stealth in locating and replacing it as this is a busy picnic area.
