Geocache Description:

** THIS IS A GENUINE INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST CACHE**

“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just two years, the quest has grown to over four hundred fifty caches hidden in Indiana, as well as Ohio and Michigan, and the hiders have grown to over twenty-five cacher teams, most of which of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 950 cacher teams have logged over 10,700 finds. One of many cache machines found 102 ISQ caches in a single day (daylight hours only).

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #411

"BINGO!"

Welcome to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery (also known as Coldwater Lutheran Cemetery and Ludwig Cemetery) located in Allen County, Washington Township, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Many local cachers may recognize this location as the former home to BINGO! by Lord Padishar , which is where the name for this ISQ comes from. BINGO! lived a good life with many hits from local cachers and cachers traveling down Interstate 69. It was a sad day when it came up missing. With permission from Lord Padishar, I decided to keep the location and the spirit of BINGO! alive in the form of an Indiana Spirit Quest cache.

The earliest confirmed burial here occurred in 1844. Not much is known about this little cemetery other than it was part of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, which is no longer in existence.

At some point in 1920, the school and the surrounding land was sold to the state to make way for the Interstate 69 and highway 27 interchange. That same interchange is why there is a lot of noise here. Luckily the historical society stepped in to preserve this cemetery in its very unlikely place.

It's been a mystery as to why BINGO! disappeared. However, when I scouted this cemetery, I quickly learned why. There have been some major clean up and restoration projects occurring here. The trees and the bushes surrounding the cemetery used to be overgrown and out of control. Now everything is trimmed back and looking good. Well, this process also exposed the location of the BINGO! cache. My guess is that the grounds crew threw it away figuring it was just a piece of trash.

FIND LOGS ON THIS CACHE THAT INDICATE NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE!

The cache container WAS an Altoids Chewing Gum container, but is now a camo'd soda bottle preform. Please bring your own pencil as I couldn't fit one in the container. The cache is not located near a grave... If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. You must sign the cache log to claim a find. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out.
