Geocache Description:

In 1816 Gervails Craig was still 15 when he left Ireland for Canada. Expropriated from his first farm on the Rideau Canal near Lansdowne Park, Gervais acquired land near Black Rapids in the 1840s. Tragically, the original farmhouse he built was lost in the Great Fire of 1870. The land passed down through the families until it was expropriated in 1963 by the National Capital Commission and became part of the Greenbelt.

William Kennedy lived in Nepean from 1831, and in the 1850s moved to Jockvale. William's lot expanded to include 300 acres of land, where his family would live for the next four generations. The original Kennedy farmhouse was sold in 1946 and is adjoined today by the Barrhaven Fellowship Christian Reformed Church.

These families were joined and intertwined when two Kennedy sisters married two Craig brothers.

Coordinates to the above mentioned Kennedy Farmhouse (and Barrhaven Fellowship Christan Reformed Church) are at 16.281 45.420. Also a good place to park to start to search for Little Houlahan - GCV84D.

This is a short kid friendly mini-multi (3 tags to find, 600m). All tags are found on trees near the trail. The cache coordinates are for the first tag to find on the back of a tree. Near the first coordinate, you will also find a 'humoungous' hollow in a tree, that could probably hide the clever 12-year old that I'm still looking for.

Cache Contents:

  • stuffed Tigger
  • stuffed Piglet
  • stuffed Gopher
  • stuffed Eyore
  • stuffed Kanga
  • stuffed Kanga's mom
  • Red-2's Tigger Travel Bug
  • decals: "ldling gets you nowhere"
  • Mini toy flashlight (only room for one!)

As well, there is a logbook, pencil, sharpener, and GeoCaching manifesto.

Cache is a reasonable size, but I stuffed in as many small winnie-the-pooh characters as I could. Hopefully some space will be available after the first few trades!

Park at the end of Sachs Forest Place: 45 17.514 75 42.798.

Please re-hide carefully. Enjoy.
