Cache is placed near a new greenway section opened in late 2010. The cache is located on the SE (UNCC) side of the creek. With the addition of the new bridge leading to UNCC, this cache is much easier to find and approach. No more balancing on the pipe unless you just feel adventurous.
We decided a location close to the new part of the Greenway would be a good place for our first cache since at the time of placement all other greenway caches were to the west of I-85. We love bicycling on the greenway and are thankful for the new 2-3 mi stretch from research park to the athletic fields. You may park at the CITGO athletic fields but the gates close at sundown so don't get locked-in. Parking at UNCC may require a meter fee or taking a chance on a UNCC parking ticket. The terrain rating is higher "if" and "how" you must cross the creek. As with all caches, there are many ways to get to the cache. Some more adventurous than others. Your challenge is to find the way best suited for you. If you are uncomfortable with one route, take a step back and seek new avenues.
