This is an area that has been industrialized for more than 100 years ago and the small village Hedefors still has houses built for the workers at those earlier times. Some artists moved into the area when it was not fashionable during the seventieth to live in houses with low standards. The nearby cafe is a remain from the era too but opening hours are rare nowadays. There have been exhibitions at occasion too.
The area received a small overhaul some decades ago when smaller companies started their business here. Unfortunately there seems to be a regress coming again. The only installation still being up running is the hydro power station which has been producing electric energy for decades. It has been under different ownerships but now Lerums Energi is running it producing electricity for the public net. Watch your step when investigating it since automatic movements are performed when cleaning the intake grids.
The main older industry situated here had connections to textiles and dyes which is what you will meet throughout your walk. The buildings are mainly closed to visitors so you will have to look from the outside if you not ask for permission !
The coordinates point at a starting point for your trip where you also can park your car. There are a lot of parking possibilities in the area so pick your favorite ! The café is just adjacent to here and may or may not be open.
If you prefer to go by train the next stop is at Stenkullen and you will have a small walk of 1 km along the railway waiting for you.
Why not take the opportunity and pay a visit to the nearby nature preservative along the river Säveån offering a cache too, Rule Brittania at GCN709. Bring your picnic basket along if the weather is fine !
Your task is to find buildings with signs telling you some of the history but also supplying you with a number that you will need when calculating the coordinates for the cache. This will render you a small industrial historic walk in a little known area. Even if the buildings names are in Swedish this should not be a stopper for a foreign visitor.
In the expression below you will have to substitute the names against the correlating numbers and the cache coordinates are revealed.
Perhaps a small mini calculator could be handy !?

The cache is a 30 ml plastic tube containing only a pencil and a log book. The area is frequented by people at almost any time so take care when approaching the cache !
