Important Update, 10 April, 2006:

The 2006 Mt. Agamenticus Event will, once again, feature the Battleship Cache hunt. Those who participated in the 2004 game will notice some changes. The game incorporates a poker run as before, but we have added a "Get to Know Each Other" aspect.

Thanks Brdad
The game is based on Brdad's famous Battleship Cache. The game is played very similarly, but with a few differences to make the game a group effort and to quicken the pace.

Getting to know each other
One of the goals of this game is to get to know each other better and share some of the favorite experiences we've had. We are asking all interested cachers to email your favorite quote from a cache log. We will post the logs at (visit link) and (visit link) Your mission is to find out who wrote the log.

The ships
We will post a modified Battleship game board which consists of a 5X5 grid. Hidden on the grid will be boats, all of which are the ever elusive "2 holed" PT Boats, Named PT-1, PT-2, and PT-3. To find the coordinates of the battleship (final cache), you must first locate the PT Boats. Once they are located, you will have to do some slight calculations to obtain the coordinates of the final cache.

Target acquisition
The game board will have quotes from the logs of 25 cachers. The group must match the log to the cacher who wrote the log. There is also one part of a coordinate below each log quote. The other half of the coordinate is written below the cacher name. When properly matched, the coordinates will lead to a cache location, There will be several information stations (laptops) available for briefing your gpsr. Please remember to bring your download cable.

Sinking ships
The group will match the names to the logs at the exactly 13:00 on D-day Mt. A. To fire a shot, go to the location and find the cache. A damage report will be in each cache. All target missions must be completed by 13:45. Strategy hint: Work as a team by taking on 5 missions each. Do not return late. The farther a square is from the center square, the further the cache will be from the launching area.

Finding the final cache
Use the information from each cache to find the PT boats. The front uses the upper row of digits and rear uses the left column of digits. The final cache is less than 1 mile from the summit and is a somewhat strenuous walk. Those wishing an easier walk can arrange to be picked up at the base and shuttled back to the summit. Please let us know Final cache rating: 3/5

The poker run
There will be some incentives awarded for service. Each cache will have a marker that can be exchanged for a playing card. The cards will be placed in the final cache. If you find 5 targets, you will be dealt 5 cards. If you have 4 finds, you will get 4 cards. The best hand wins. Cards will be dealt to about 5 cachers in each round. The winners of each round will advance to a showdown round. In showdown play, each player gets one card. The highest card wins first prize, the next gets second, etc. A bonus card will be given to each person who agrees to retrieve one of the caches after the game. One bonus “retriever” card per person will be awarded. A bonus card will also be given to the FTF for each. One bonus “FTF” card per person will be awarded.
