Park at N40 17.245 W080 00.122, a large pull-off near the intersection of Brownsville Rd. and Library Rd. REMEMBER, YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS IN THE CACHE HUNT. Please hunt responsibly. YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO INTO THE CAVE TO FIND STAGE ONE!!
THE BEST SOUTH PARK HAS TO OFFER...This cache is named after a pleasant, but odd encounter I had with a man while scouting this cache. He commended my getting outside, but suggested that we not go back in this part of the woods in hunting season unless we wore antlers "to make things more interesting". He was joking...I think. Just in case, WEAR ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASON even though hunting isn't allowed on this piece of county property. I've never had problems and hike here often.
This is a two part multi with a round trip of just over a mile and no way to "cheat" with different parking coords. Terrain rating is based on slight climbing involved in stage 1 (bigger than a micro and hidden ABOVE the cave...YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENTER THE CAVE), plus the overall hike length.
Your creek crossing should remain dry as long as you cross at the suggested coords. The final is a 50 cal. ammo box. The woods back there are vast, but obey private property signs that you may encounter if you explore back there. You shouldn't encounter any on the cache hunt, though.
Hike about an extra .3 from the final and you can also score Sleepy Hollow cache if you haven't already.
