Geocache Description:

This cache is in the Inishowen Peninsula, North of Buncrana, starting at Dunree Beach, County Donegal. This cache is 1,300 feet above sea level, in the Urris Hills between Dunree Head and Mamore Gap. It was created to honor the airmen who died when their Wellington Bomber crashed in these hills on Good Friday, 1941. See the Website http://www.hoganstand.com/general/identity/extras/hidden/stories/urris.htm

This is a traditional cache placed at the site of a Wellington Bomber crash which happened on Good Friday, 1941. The site is marked with a cross and some debris from the aircraft, now as a geocache site it is accompanied by a model of the Wellington and an Ammo Box containing a log book, copy of the Website information, postcards, toy airplanes and compasses. Although the site is only 1.66 statue miles from Dunree Beach, it is at an elevation of 1,300 feet above sea level through a heavy cover of Heather and rocks. It is adviseable not to go alone and take a mobile phone so you can let someone know when you have completed your journey. You will need to be aware of the tides at Dunree Beach with this link: http://magicseaweed.com/North-Malin-Surf-Report/59/tide/uk/

It is also adviseable not to take children under ten years of age as the climb and descent are very physical. The site was established with the aid of a sixty three year old man and it took one hour and forty five minutes to reach the cache as we made several rest stops.
