Geocache Description:

This is a four part cache that will take you on a 2+ mile loop of the Mattabesett trail on the Haddam/Middletown line. The first three caches are micros; the final is an ammo box.

UPDATE, April 6, 2008: A massive power lines project disrupted part of this area, but the blue trail has been re-blazed and is easy to follow. All is well. Following is the original cache description:

Park off of Saybrook Road at Seven Falls Park (exit 10 off of Route 9). Pick up the blue/yellow blazed loop trail on the upstream end of the park, hiking uphill and across the powerlines. The micros will lead you on a clockwise tour of the trail. Between the 2nd and 3rd micros you’ll need to turn right onto the blue blazed Mattabesett trail to continue the loop which will ultimately bring you back to Seven Falls. (The trail intersection is at N 41º 30.682 W 72º 34.553).

All micros and the final are near the trail. No heavy bushwacking is required. The trail is very steep in places so use caution, especially with small children or pets. Watch for hunters in the fall. Expect to spend a good 2 hours on the trail.

The final cache is a toolbox theme. You will find tools, hardware, and other household do-it-yourself items. Please try to trade within this theme. Items up to 11” long should fit. Initial stock: multi-screwdriver, flashlight, electrical tape, clamps, WD40, epoxy, foam brush, tape measure & drywall screws. Other ideas: hose-clamps, batteries, pliers, cutters, wrenches, hex-keys, etc..

Have fun and enjoy one of the few loop trails in the CFPA blue-blazed Mattabesett trail.
