Geocache Description:

This is located a short distance from the road in an old cemetery that has grown up. The cache will not be very hard to reach or to find, but the area does contain some poison ivy and brush. It is located north of Lacey. The road is good except in the worse weather.

This cache is located in Jack Moore Cemetery. This area was settled by a large number of people who were of African descent. It was near Lacey which was a white town. When one of Jack Moore's children died, he set aside this corner of his farm as a cemetery. There are numerous children buried here and at least two "Buffalo Soldiers." As the people moved away from this area, the cemetery fell into disuse. Some of the bodies were moved to Morrison Cemetery located northeast of here. With no one left in the area to take care of the cemetery, it has grown up in trees and brush. This is not the picture we think of when we think of cemeteries, but it shows that nature does reclaim the land and in this case, it gives us an example of the type of ground that the settlers had to try to make a living on. I hope you enjoy this look into the past. You are looking for an ammo box.
