Geocache Description:

Mr. Wesley’s Magic Light has been spotted at various points along the road by dozens of people. Its source still remains a mystery.

Growing up my dad often speculated that Mr. Wesley’s Light was caused by everything from brush fires, anchored lights, car headlights, and even fireflies. But he could never explain some of the reported anomalies and characteristics such as color (often glowing red or green), random movements, or odd auroras. Others still associate the light with more uncanny causes.

Mr. Wesley’s Magic Light is the legend of an Ormond railway brakeman who was accidentally beheaded by a passing train. He now searches this very area around dusk night after night; the Magic Light is said to be that of his gas lantern as he searches for his missing head.

The stories surrounding the light, always point toward the very accident that occurred nearby many years ago and left the poor man decapitated. The light has been described as starting as a pinpoint among the railway that grows to the brightness of a flashlight, then dims and fades away as it disappears into the woods at this very spot with a regularity that seldom disappoints those who come to view it. Glowing at dusk with an eerie, soft color; it sometimes pulses, and dances about, usually near the ground or waist high.

The true source is a mystery. When the curious try to approach, the light will simply vanish, as if purposely keeping its true nature a secret.

You are searching for a very special geo-container at the very point of the light’s usual disappearance. If you are brave enough, come just before dusk, sit quietly, and wait. There is ample parking just off the roadway and please don’t worry, you will be searching nowhere near the tracks. Watch your step due to elevation changes and as with all of our hides, please trade up or even. This is a well stocked cache with very special meaning; To open it just pull out the bolt and Please don’t steal the container.

Happy Ghost Hunting!
