Geocache Description:

This is located at the old Caldwell Train Depot.

The original structure was established in 1883 by Mr. & Mrs. Robert E. Strahorn. At that time it was the only constructed building in the "tent city" that became Caldwell. The citizens and business leaders petitioned the railroad for a better, more attractive Depot. In 1906 the building you see now was built by the railroad to replace the old "shanty" along with other improvements through Caldwell. The city used the depot through the mid 1980s, then the Depot was closed completely. The Caldwell Historical Society is planning to restore the Depot to its original condition sometime in the next few years. A new plaza has been built around the Depot including a fountain kids can play in during the summer. This cache was placed with permission from the City of Caldwell
