Geocache Description:

Saluda Shoals park. Adopted by cruisingroove.

I set out today on my bike to find a place for a special cache. Needless to say I have now biked every paved trail, horse trail, walking trail and powerline in this park. This cache was placed in a little grove of sassafras trees on top of a hill in Saluda Shoals park. This is one of the prettiest spots in the park outside of the river front. The crooked upward winding trees remind me of halloween. To get to this cache just follow the paved greenway trail towards the far end of the park. At some point, before your gps points left, you need to cut over and follow the powerline. You will come to a hill on your left that the powerline also follows that you need to climb. Once on top just follow the trail in the center and your gps. A trail will cut off to your right and head into the nearby treeline, just follow your gps from there. The sassafras trees will be off to the left of the trail. My gps gives me much trouble in the woods but it consistantly put me within 10ft of this cache. I hope you find this spot as enjoyable as I did and as always, CITO. ***update*** This cache is about 80ft off the left hand side of the trail. The spot I marked with the gps is a small round open area towards the back side of these sassafras trees. From this spot the cache is only about 10ft away and you can actually see the cache plain as day from here. The opening was a lot more obvious and easy to find with the gps without all the foliage. If at some point while going down the trail from the power lines your gps makes a hard left, trust it and go in from there. Hope this helps, Gunkie.
