"A Tribute to Video Games" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

phenixcachers: Well gang, unfortunatly its "GAME OVER" for this cool video game swapping/trading themed cache.
Its definitly been stolen..video games and all.
And since it was hidden in a busy park and in an "open" area..my caching instincts tell me that if I were to place another video game filled container here again, it would more than likely get stolen again. So I wont make the same mistake twice, I'll archive it.

This one has had a good cache run/life of almost exactly 1 year and 9 months (tomorrow)--plus 109 found logs.

The GOOD news is that next spring, look for a bigger, better "version" of this video game swapping/trading themed cache.
My plans will definitly be to keep this cool theme "alive" and hide an ammo can that will be crammed full of new and old games for both new and old systems.
And i'll place it in a much, much safer area, where muggles wont even be a problem at all.

I have loved video games ever since they came out in the 80's. I'll always love 'em. So thats another reason why this cache will be "reincarnated" into a ammo can and in a SAFE place this spring.
Stay tuned, gang!
Cache on my friends...
And Happy (Caching) New Year!
Scott (phenixcachers)

Geocache Description:

Located at the small but busy little park called Max & Una Lilley Park which is located on west Chestnut in Springfield

Man, i just LOVE video Games!
Always have--always will.
From the golden age of Atari to the high-tech graphics of todays systems..video games RULE!!
My love for video games goes way back to the 80's when they first drew attention. At heart i am what you call a "retro" gamer.
I grew up in the 80's and saw the video game madness at its height and at its lowest when the video game crash happened in the mid--80's. (yeah--i survived the "Pac-Man fever" craze)..haha.
I fondly remember my brother driving me to springfield where we would spend all day at the arcade and spend $5 worth of tokens without hesitation.
And i recall trying to save money for that new "latest and greatest" Atari game cartridge..haha.
Heck-- even today, i still have some original consoles from way back when, such as Atari 2600,5200,7800,Colecovision and Nintendo NES.
And on my computer..i have 18 video game system emulators with hundreds of games. Systems from Atari to Gameboy Advance and everything in between. Its like a video game Heaven..haha.
Anyways on to the cache details...
Container that holds the log papers and geocaching disclaimer is 4 inches tall, 2 inches wide and small cache...but its a shallow container made of fragile plastic.
Actual regular cache container that holds all the goodies is a rubbermaid container that is cammoed.
Also--theres plenty of room for Travel Bugs!
The small container that holds the logbook and disclaimer is quite unique and goes right along with the theme of this cache. (video games)
I only have 1 spare and cannot get anymore due to the fact the store wont have anymore nor will get anymore. So i hope it doesnt get stolen.
PLEASE rehide it back the way i have it.
Its hidden quite snug in its hiding spot. Dont worry when you retrieve it/place it back if the sides of the container "scrape" and the cammo tape wears off.
Just make sure the lid is on securely!!!
Kids will get a kick out of the video game related log container, i think.

**Please Note**
There should be a couple of fairly large "OBJECTS" in front of the cache container, which keeps the container hidden from view and muggles.
PLEASE make sure the 2 "objects" are placed back in front of container,so container will be hidden from view from muggles. Thanks!

Also--i was surprised at how busy this little park was..so you WILL have to kick up the stealth/discreet mode a notch or two.
Try to not let anyone see you--i dont want it to get stolen by muggles since i only have 1 spare.
Good luck
