The Magic School Bus Inside a Hurricane
This series of caches is inspired by the excellent Magic School Bus books by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen. Each one contains a clue for the final cache in the series, and each one has initial content and/or location that is appropriate for the book it represents.
This micro is hidden outside NOAA's National Weather Service office in Raleigh. Look on the building for an assortment of antennas; that's where the NWS is located. We're trained by the NWS as Skywarn Spotters, and through that organization we've met a hurricane researcher who voluntarily experienced landfall of a category 3 hurricane from inside a truck. Details and pictures here.
Parking may be an issue at times. There's parking a few feet from the cache, but it's an NC State lot, often busy, and you're probably supposed to have a permit or something to park there.
Thanks to lovelace and BillWolf1 for providing replacements when this went missing while I was out of town. If it keeps disappearing, I'll either have to move it or stop leaving town!
This cache has been moved 4/28/07!
It went missing a third time, so I moved it near the NWS sign in front of the building, where I'd originally hoped to place it. With any luck, it won't go missing again. Since it's a new container in a new location, feel free to log it again.
