Geocache Description:

As the name would imply, this cache has something to do with fishing, although fishing is not in the least bit required. If you do plan to fish, please see the fishing section below for more information.

The difficulty rating is only because you will have to do some traveling and minor math; the actual cache should not be too difficult to locate. The terrain rating for this cache is based on the fact that you will either have to wade across a creek on the final portion or else have a long hike. If you do not care to fish, then you may want to bring a camera and/or binoculars, because there are some very scenic locations. Note: A four-wheel drive is not necessary, but your vehicle should have decent ground clearance, as travel on some uneven gravel roads will be required (leave the Ferrari at home).

When you arrive at the coordinates listed your car should be in the middle of a small stream flowing from the right. From here go back the way you came from 7/10’s of a mile. There will be a parking lot on your left, which you should enter. At the upper end of this parking lot, there is a gate with a brown plastic pole listing the road number (two digits and a letter). Convert the letter to a digit corresponding to its place in the alphabet (i.e. A=1; B=2; etc). You should now have a three-digit number. Multiply the first and second digits, add the third digit, and subtract 1 from that number. This number will be XX. Double that number to get YY. Now put these into (N34 YY.512, W084 XX.628). This is the next set of coordinates in which to go.

However, before you head to the next set of coordinates, the parking area you are in is adjacent to a heavily stocked trout stream. And entering this stream, from the opposite side of from the parking area, is a Trophy trout stream, which can be fished under special rules (see web-link below). This Trophy trout stream allows some large (18 - 26 inch) trout to migrate into the mainstream. If you are unfamiliar with the trout stream fishing regulations, please visit the Georgia DNR page (visit link) and follow the links for fishing/trout fishing regulations. Even if you do not plan to fish, the scenery is beautiful and there are several waterfalls ranging from 10 to 25 feet within a very short walking distance of the parking area so you might at least want to take a few minutes and have a look.

There are several routes you could take to get to the next set of coordinates. You should end up in the Dawson Forest WMA. When you get to the coords, you should be at the entrance to a campground / parking lot / trout stocking location / river ford. Note the person's 7-letter name of the Ford. Determine the corresponding position in the alphabet (again, A=1, B=2, C=3, etc) for the first letter in the name and multiply that by 4; this is BB. Determine the corresponding position in the alphabet for the last letter in the name and double it; this is AA. The final coordinates are (N34 28.5BB, W084 14.AA1).

The cache is in a 30mm ammo container. Cache original contents - TB’s "Sully", "Rockin’ Racer U.S.A", “Bentley’s Wrench”, “Hockey Buddy”, “A Good Hiding Spot”, “Siren, RFPD’s Dalmation”, “The Green Wolf”, “FSUdad’s Geocoin, a logbook, pens, a travel sewing kit, and a new Georgia deck of playing cards. Please conceal the cache in its original configuration, and let me know if there are any problems with doing so. You will have to wade across the creek, so a swimsuit or waders should be taken. It is possible to reach the cache without wading across the creek, however, a hike of approximately a mile will be required, and I am not aware of any trail from the opposite direction.

Congrats to "Phat.bak" for FTF.
