This cache will take you through some of Nine Mile Forest's swampy-est waters. The terrain consists of hubs of grassland grass floating in a sea of swamp. Waders, Knee high boots are STRONGLY advised. This spring, the water was about 12-16" deep.
There is a sand parking lot available for parking
N 44 51.502
W 089 41.437
From there you can walk down a long bike path and start your bushwhacking from anywhere along there.
The cache is a ammo box and inside to start currently is only a logbook and a pencil. We ask you bring some swag to place in the cache as you come out here :-). You may ask why is it empty?! Well we got out there and realized we forgot the swag and there is no way we were drudging threw the swamp again! So if the caching community could be so kind, we would greatly be thankful.
But we assure you the walk is so well worth it. We saw many kinds of birds, who were actaully following us! We saw sandhill cranes nesting in the ponds around this area, and many various tracks along the bike path. We tried placing this at night and well we ran back scared silly because a coyote was no more than 100 yards off howling! This area is packed with wildlife! The ponds are just beautiful and I am sure this area is pretty untouched by humans! If you like a rough terrain, a great view, and something that only a handful of people have ventured, This is for you!
