Geocache Description:

This is a great place to hike & fish. Not a "typical PBS
Cache"... meant to be easy... The purpose of this cache is the
place, not the difficulty of the hunt... it's easy... Please
replace cache exactly as found... AND NO NIGHT CACHERS!!!

Cache is a decon box with GEOCACHING Label...
Cache is located on private property that is part of what is called "Tax-Exempt Green Acres"...
What this means is the owners of the property agree to
let the public use the land (during daylight hours only) for
hiking, fishing, etc. and then the county & town waive any taxes on that land...
So, please treat this land as private property that u have permision to use...
respect the landowners privacy and do not bushwack thru their yards, etc...

There is very little garbage here (although there is an abundance of broken glass),
if you see any, please cart it out and place in garbage cans at the fairgrounds...
(P.S. Deb found an old bottle, completely intact
(from the early 1900's)
from an old bottling company from Morristown, in the sand along the river, that had been recently uncovered by floods)...

Parking is available at the Far Hills Fair Grounds...
(u may even catch a game of cricket being played there)...
Good lunchtime cache...

It is located along a beautiful stretch of the North Branch Of the Raritan River, just below the confluance with Peapack Brook...

There will be lots of fishermen in the area after the season opens April 8th...
It is one of my favorite fishing spots later in the season for fly fishing...

For the best experience go down to the river & take the trails along the river until u get near the cache coordinates...
then bushwack from there...

You can bushwack closer to the cache (approx 500 feet) from the Fairgrounds access driveway,
but the best experience of this cache, along the river, will be lost... and not add much time/distance to the walk...

Really... walk along the river to access...
you will not be dissapointed...
not like 99% of the rest of the Raritan River...
crystal clear waters, not muddy... rock cliffs/overhangs, etc...

great place for a bottle of wine and a hunk of bread and cheese... and a loved one...

when the fishermen are absent...

During the really hot days of summer... we will usually be found swimming in the fishing hole...
The water is clear and cold...
