Rampart Range Road 01 Traditional Cache

carlschulz: I just talked to the US Forest Service and they said that stretch of road is closed indefinitely. My guess is they are going to get in there and hydroseed for erosion control. It was hidden in an old tree stump so there's no way it survived the fire.

Geocache Description:

Nice drive in the mountains.

The cache is off Rampart Range Road (enter the road from Garden of the Gods) outside Colorado Springs, CO. The road is not a well maintained dirt & gravel road. Cars should take it easy going up the road. I drive up this road about once a month in my truck.

The Cache is off the road a bit no it won't be accidently found. It is also somewhat protected from the elements.

This cache has a very small log book (it's a 35m caniser after all) and one item inside. Please do not take the item inside (it's just there for fun) and be sure to take a pen or pencil along.

7/31/08 Just a quick note to let you know that you shouldn't be near the gun range or the trash. If you are, you're in the wrong spot. There is a better approach down the road.

11/25/07 I am going to consider moving the cache but it should be fine for now. The forest service has been blocking trails to keep ATV & dirt bike riders off those trails. Walking around the fence shouldn't pose a problem.
