The easiest way to approach this cache is to head out towards Ardglass from Downpatrick and then follow the coast round towards Killough
Please park your car beside the postbox at N 54 15.391 W 005 37.435 and walk down the lane to approach Coney Island.
Coney Island is not an island as most people wood expect but a narrow peninsula sticking out into Killough bay. Its name is derived from the gaelic coinin: a rabbit, and originated from the fact that rabbits abounded in the sand hills.
It is an area were, peace and tranquillity reigns. The surroundings are magnificent, with the Green Road and Bella's Tower to the north, the coastguard house and St. John's Point lighthouse to the south, and the blue outlines of the Mourne Mountains on the skylines.
There is a circular path running round the island. I would suggest walking it anti-clockwise as the path is more obvious in this direction
The cache is a large pastic sweety jar. There is a camera in the cache please take a picture when you visit
If you've not in a rush away head along the coast road towards clough and you should be rewarded with some excellent views of the mourne mountains.
