This geocache is worth the trip! The initial walk on the trail has a terrain rating of 1. The last 100 feet of bushwacking and cache location is the reason for the 4.5 rating. I'd leave the kids home for this one.
This cache is located in state land known as Pine Ledge. The trail head is at the corner of Rte. 80 and West Bridge Street in Deep River. (N41 22.847 W072 27.041) Parking can be found in front of the old reservoir at N41 22.814 W072 27.206. You will have to walk down along Rte. 80 to the entrance.
Reflection is located at the edge of a ledge overlooking an alder swamp. Even though it is close to civilization, it somehow has a unique quiet to it. How you approach is a choice you will need to make. If you bushwack too early you will have to deal with swamps, bees, snakes, and the horrid mountain laurel. I would recommend continuing down the trail until you come to a hill leading to a large fork in the trail. From there you should head South and bushwack up along the ledge to a clearing. Ideally you should only have to bushwack a distance of about 75 feet.
Once you find the geocache. I do have a goal. There is a perfect rock that you can sit on here. I used to sit here for hours and watch the bird and insect life. It is truely a great spot to sit in the sun and rest. With life getting so busy I realized that I hadn't been here in years. I decided to place a cache here to force myself to take time out and return here to sit and stop for a while. I would like you to do the same. Before logging your visit in the journal, wait for 5 minutes. Sit in silence. Listen. Watch. Reflect. Then log your visit, thoughts, etc. and make your way back to your regular life filled with schedules, events, and places to be. :)
Enjoy!
