Geocache Description:

Arkesden Arithmetic

Arkesden is a pretty village to the North of Bishop's Stortford. The co-ordinates at the top of the page are not the location of the cache. They are in the centre of Arkesden near the Axe and Compass. You can park at the side of the road here. The Axe and compass is a very good pub. It has been in pub guides for many years.

This is the fourth in a series of mathematical caches. This problem is GCE A level standard. To find the cache you need to solve the following trigonometric equation

Find the roots of this equation in the range between 0 and 90 degrees. You will find two roots one will be the northing of the location of the cache. The second is easting of the location of the cache. It should be very obvious which one is which.

The cache is located at the side of a footpath a short walk from the village. The cache container is a small tupperware pot. It holds a log book and pencil and a few small swaps. It is not large enough for most travel bugs or for large swaps.

You can e-mail me to check the answers to the problem or if you would like some hints. If you get desperate I'll send you the co-ordinates of the cache site.
