A short uphill hike up the logging road so I put terrain rating as a 3.5 This cache is on private land and the landowner asks that everyone that visits to practice "Catche in Trash out" You are looking for a med sized camo coffee can.
This cache is Home of Team TRYJR.
It is located at one of the coolest spots in Henderson County. There is an old railroad trestle bridge here that is one of the longest and highest I have ever seen. I am still doing reserch on this bridge to find out some more of its history.
What I do know is The two halves of the Santa Fe Railroad, one from Kansas City, the other from Chicago, were linked together at the highest point (some 675 feet above sea level) between the Mississippi River and Lake Michigan. The new town was called Media, or halfway point, instead of Wever. It was erected in 1882 on the Santa Fe mainline, this is a unique structure for the Midwest. With a span of 1,000 ft. plus and 6 stories high, it testifies to the steel girder construction skills of that era. The U.S. Army provided top security for the trestle during WWII. This mainline remains in full service today.
On the day Boogaloo and I put this cache out we seen 2 trains at full speed going in oppisite directions at the same time. Its a great backdrop for a photo.
