Geocache Description:

Thought this park was big enough for another cache. It is such a unique and beautiful place. Park hours are 6:00am to 11:00pm.

Sylvan Rodriguez Park is a 111.4 acre site originally purchased in 1990 by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. The parks aeronautical theme is reflective of NASA's influence on local industry. The park, located in the Clear Lake community, is named in honor of Sylvan Rodriguez, a well-loved 23-year veteran of Houston's broadcast news industry whose life and death served as an example of vitality, strength and courage. Revival of the undeveloped land brings new life to the area. Inspired partly by NASA, the park's design features a labryinth, encircled by 13 stately Crepe Myrtle trees representing the 13 moon cycles. From the plaza, there is a spectacular view of the lake and stone obelisks create majestic light patterns during the winter and summer solstices. Play areas energize children and inspire imaginations to run wild. There are walking and jogging trails around the park.
