Geocache Description:

This is the fifth in a series of multi-caches we’ve set up in the area and once again it’s built round local history and places of interest.

The co-ordinates given are for the suggested car park and first location.

The walk to the cache is a gentle ½ mile stroll on firm surfaces, with a slightly steeper section to the final location. There are magnificent views over Pett Level and Rye Bay to the east and Firehills to the west.

Bring binoculars if you enjoy birdwatching. The amenity area near the car park is a perfect place to fly kites and have a picnic. It’s also a great place for children to enjoy the open space and maze of pathways through the gorse. If you’re feeling energetic you could combine this cache with Warren Glen GC7B41, as well as our other caches of course!

Hastings Country Park is an area of maritime cliff with a cliff top area of maritime acid grassland and heath, gill woodland (including some ancient woodland), scrub, neutral grassland, and amenity grassland. The cliffs constitute the largest area of the High Weald ridge that meets the sea. This sandstone and clay coastline is uniquely positioned between the alluvial plains of Rye Bay and Pevensey Bay and the chalk of the North and South Downs.

A large area of Hastings Country Park is designated an Area of Special Scientific Interest and candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) status. The features include sandstone cliffs, glens covered with gorse and trees, footpaths, nature trails, picnic areas and ample car parking.
