This cache is 5.58 miles from Old Hwy 80. An experienced driver could make the drive in a 2WD with good clearance.
Take the Jacumba exit off interstate 8 and make a left as you are facing the two gas stations. That road will deadend into Old Hwy. 80, make a left. Go 1.7 miles or to N32 37.706 W116 7.804 and make a left on the dirt road. Go to the end of that road (you will be up against the freeway) and turn right. Follow the freeway for a short distance and go under it. Cars can make it a few hundres yards up the north side of the freeway before you would have to hike. If hiking please bring a lot of water and be careful of all the normal desert creatures. It would be about a ten mile round trip from there. If driving watch the arrow on the GPS and know that if you take a wrong turn at one of the turns or "Y's" in the road they all come to a deadend. Parking for the 4WDs is best at N32 40.715 W116 09.718 The remnants of the old house are likely from a miner that used to mine Tungsten for the war during WW2.
